Evangelion rue slow start

Evangelion arrived for P.E.P IV the least prepared of the competing teams. Wrangles with central contracts and external obligations meant the team only had days to prepare whilst the other teams had weeks.

Despite losing to Athletico in their opening fixture, it was the shock reversal to San'chez that put pay to their P.E.P chances. Ryan Kage was in reflective mood:

"Although we are obviously disappointed to finish so far off the pace, considering the preparation time and lack of playing time available to the players, I am very pleased with the lads and their performances".

In fact, in all their games, Evangelion were the stronger side and were on the receiving end of poor decisions and some very bad luck. They were at their supreme best in the 4 - 1 demolition of Shanghai and set a new P.E.P record when youngster Theo Walcott scored five against FC Fisico. Ryan Kage concurred:

"Walcott in particular was a shining light, and Hleb is thriving in the attacking midfield role rather than being played out wide. The players gelled well and to be honest, we dominated the majority of the games and with the luck of the Irish and bar some incredible individual defensive performances from other teams; the table could have looked very different".
